Abstracts
Student Travel Grants
For HGSA student travel grants, please contact your relevant State Branch or Special Interest Group.
New Investigator Award (NIA)
The prize will be given for the best original research presented at the HGSA Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) by a New Investigator. The prize will be valued at $500. The person must be a student (proof required), have been a researcher for <10 years and be a member of the HGSA. Individuals need to nominate whether they wish to be considered for the award when submitting their abstract/s.
AACG Clinical Genetics Fellows Prizes
The AACG will give a prize of $500 each to two Clinical Genetics Fellows (in training) for the 2010 HGSA meeting. To be eligible, the Clinical Genetic Fellow must be a student member of the AACG. These prizes will be awarded for the two best submitted abstracts (one for best oral and one for best poster presentation). The Scientific Program Committee will select the successful abstracts. Applicants must specify that they wish to be considered for one of these prizes at the time of submitting their abstract for the ASM.
Karen Snow-Bailey Award
This award, amounting to $500, is provided by the MGSA, and is to be awarded to the best presentation submitted by an MGSA student member. Student includes those MGSA members participating in the current round of MHGSA examinations.

MGSA Workshop
The Molecular Genetics Society of Australasia will be holding an all-day workshop on Monday, November 15th. This will be held in the Ella Latham lecture theatre at the Royal Children's Hospital in Parkville.
The focus of the workshop will be:
* Quality issues in molecular genetic testing
* New Technologies in molecular genetic testing
The day will comprise presentations from invited speakers and there will be no abstract submissions.
Please note: Registration for the workshop will be directly to the MGSA and is separate to the HGSA meeting registration.
