ASMR Professional Development Sessions @ AHMRC

Monday 26^th and Tuesday 27^th November

The road to research independence:

Establishing and leading a research team

The two main focuses of the sessions will be:

• Funding strategies (eg. Grants and fellowships), and
• Building and managing your team (eg. Establishing your research niche, group culture, management style, recruiting the right people).

The sessions will be facilitated by Dr Sarah Meachem, Prince Henry’s Institute of Medical Research & ASMR Past President 2009.

They will feature a presentation by Prof Maria Kavallaris (Children’s Cancer Institute Australia & ASMR Past President 2007), and will involve panel discussions by other experts in the field, including:

FOCUS:	Invaluable tips by experts on: Writing a successful research grant application Preparing a competitive fellowship application How to most effectively lead a research group
WHEN:	Monday 26th November: 1 to 3pm, or  Tuesday 27th November: 1 to 3pm * *Topics repeated on the Tuesday to allow Congress attendees flexibility in when to attend
COST:	Included in a day or 2-day conference registration covering the Monday or  Tuesday, or the full conference registration.  Prices outlined on the website.
